Everyday during the winter where there are some pretty “Intense” winter weather and conditions and school isn’t canceled or delayed, lots of students, parents, and even teachers can get pretty frustrated. So who should really have the biggest say in this pretty big decision?
Well, Bridget Skelton believes that the superintendent should have the biggest say! “The superintendent is the head of the district, so he should have the biggest say” says Mrs. Skelton.
You can’t deny that when a pretty controversial call to cancel or even delay school school Isn’t made, there can be a lot of upset people in the district. Should more people have a say in this pretty arguably big decision?
“Well I think more parents voices should be heard in the decision, as it is there kids who will be affected by the decision”, Says Gina Patterson. “They should let parents report what the conditions are like near their homes”, Says Gina Patterson.
When school is indeed canceled or delayed, a lot of work will eventually have to be made up district wide. Even a delay can have a ripple effect in the classroom. Some people have suggested than when a two-hour delay does happen, that two hours should just be added to the school day.
